Our Treatment Approach

At Stillwaters Relational & Behavioral Health, we anchor every service in calm, evidence-guided care. Our team of licensed psychotherapists draws from treatments validated by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (SAP), grounding our work in approaches with strong research support and decades of clinical refinement.

Two approaches sit at the heart of our practice. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers the careful, exploratory work of understanding the unconscious patterns, early attachments, and defenses that shape present-day struggles — addressing root causes rather than just managing symptoms. Havening Techniques, a neuroscience-based psychosensory approach, helps release the emotional charge of traumatic memories through gentle touch, focused attention, and imagination — often experienced as soothing rather than activating. Dr. Bush is a Certified Havening and Personality Disorders, and Spiritual Direction Practitioner.

Our clinicians also draw from a wide range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Relational Life Therapy (RLT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing, Exposure Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). We further integrate relationship-centered and somatic approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and Polyvagal-informed work.

Each of these approaches is rooted in either time-honored science or emerging neuroscience, and all are delivered in the steady, restorative spirit of Stillwaters.
