Online Therapy in Kentucky

Good therapy shouldn't depend on living near the right office.

At Stillwaters, we see clients across Kentucky by secure video — and, because our practice is rooted right here in Florence, you also have the option to come in and sit down with us in person. Most people choose online these days (85%), and the work goes just as deep on a screen as it does across the room.

Wherever you are in the state — Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Paducah, Owensboro, the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati border, or a smaller town like Campbellsville or Ashland off the highway — if you're in Kentucky, we can meet.

Two ways to work together

Some people want the convenience of meeting from home, on a lunch break, or after the kids are down. Others find something steadying about a quiet office and a standing weekly time. With Stillwaters you don't have to choose once and for all — many clients meet online most weeks and come into our Florence office when it helps. We'll figure out the rhythm that actually fits your life.

Who you'll work with

Kentucky clients can see either of our licensed clinicians:

  • Daniel Bush, LPCC-S works with adults and couples on trauma and PTSD, anxiety and anger, depression, and the attachment patterns that quietly shape our relationships. He brings particular depth to marriage, premarital, and couples work, and to personality disorders, and he offers faith-integrated care and spiritual direction for clients who want it.
  • Melanie Hiler, LPCC-S brings decades of experience across the whole family — not only adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and hard life transitions, but also children, teens, and parents trying to find their footing again. If you're looking for someone to work with a younger person in your family, or with you as a parent, Melanie is who you'll want.

How we work

Our foundation is psychodynamic therapy — patient, exploratory work that traces a struggle back to its roots instead of just quieting the symptoms. From there we add tools with strong research behind them, matched to you: EMDR and IFS for trauma, Emotionally Focused and Relational Life Therapy for couples, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) for untangling the rigid, self-critical beliefs that keep people stuck.

We also offer Havening Techniques — a gentle, neuroscience-based way of taking the sting out of painful memories, with Daniel as a Certified Havening Practitioner — and, for those who want their faith woven in, thoughtful Christian-integrated counseling that respects your beliefs without ever preaching.

Serving all of Kentucky

Both of our clinicians are licensed in Kentucky, so we can work with anyone located anywhere in the state. Daniel is also licensed in Ohio, which is helpful if you live near the border or split your time across the river. Our physical office sits in Florence, in Northern Kentucky, easily reachable from the greater Cincinnati area — but the online option means Louisville, Lexington, and everywhere between are just as close.

Getting started

It's a simple first step. Reach out and we'll arrange a short consultation to make sure we're the right fit for what you're carrying. If we are, online sessions run on a secure, private, HIPAA-conscious video platform — all you need is a phone, tablet, or laptop and a door you can close. We send a link, you click it at your appointment time, and we begin.

Insurance & payment

We accept select insurance plans for individual therapy, and we're glad to help you sort out whether yours is one of them — check the Find Your Coverage page or simply ask. Please note that couples therapy is self-pay and isn't billed to insurance.
